What is “DATE NIGHT”?
DATE NIGHT is usually the first and most vital ministry of the Covenant of Love ministry in the parish. DATE NIGHT is a monthly gathering of couples with the goal of assisting them in becoming a living, breathing domestic church. DATE NIGHT provides tools and information to help couples live out God’s plan for the Sacrament of Marriage and create a vibrant and positive community of married couples.
Marriage is certainly one of the most important commitments an individual will ever make in their lifetime. Healthy marriages are associated with greater physical and emotional well being. Couples who share a Christian commitment and are part of a faith community have stronger marriages.
Marriage is also the cornerstone relationship for family life. Children thrive in life when their parents enjoy a good marriage. Thus, it is vitally important that our churches are filled with many enriching programs to strengthen this Sacrament.
The Alexander House, through Covenant of Love, provides comprehensive and practical resources from the teachings of the Catholic Church with the goal of empowering couples to live their vocation well. We encourage all married couples to conform their lives to these teachings in order to build a strong foundation to sustain them through the various situations they’ll encounter throughout their married life.
DATE NIGHT is meant to foster a sense of community. The group is open to all married/engaged couples with the goal of assisting couples to become aware of the strengths of their marriage, as well as identify areas in which they wish to grow. The verbal sharing time during each session will help couples learn different means of communication, solving problems, and handling differences. It’s our hope that these groups will introduce ways for married couples to allow God to be the foundation of their marriages.
